and here is a pic of rya's sweet girls, who i just had the honor of photographing recently ...
do you ever stop and think about how amazing it is that in a split second, you can fall for something so incredibly hard ... your life is forever changed. you are now someone entirely different. you can, and will, hugely impact someone's life. it's always had me in complete and utter awe. someone else's life is completely in your hands. the entire process - it's a miracle, it's such an amazing thing. and i'm so incredibly lucky to be able to capture it.
i've broken the silence today ... seems like most of the summer i've been working in complete silence. no tv, no music ... i *love* the quiet. today i jumped back into iTunes and while i was proofing a newborn session Teach Your Children came on (crosby, stills, nash & young) ... it's been so long since i've heard this song. if you haven't heard it for awhile, listen. it's so incredibly relevant still today, a song i think probably most people can relate to in many ways.
i've been doing this family's photos since mom was prego with baby # 1 ... here's sister's newborn photo ...
and her new baby brother ...
she was very busy much of his shoot, but she did take time for a (very fast!) kiss ...
do you ever stop and wonder what goes on inside their little baby minds?
ths little guy would NOT fall asleep ... his family was so patient with me. i know they're going to be glad they waited ...
so the story continues with cvs ... harper took off on his ride-on toy and told me good-bye yesterday, and informed me that he was heading to CVS to get sugar, of course ... he drives a circle, comes back and parks under the table. he said "i park in my garage sale."
hee!!!
then jae comes home and tells me that they watched ELVIS and the chipmunks at school .... which is funny enough itself. she doesn't find the humor in it, because she really thinks it's elvis, not alvin. she does find it funny, though, that she's been watching tv at school when it's quiet time, since i had cut it off for a couple of nights!!
enjoy this sweetness, little ladies all decked out in Matilda Jane Clothing. how cute!!!
so it seems that we have survived jae's first week-and-a-half of school. i didn't even shed a tear ... !!! we were both brave on that first morning, although when i looked back in on her on her way to sitting down, i noticed that her face was quite red :) i imagine that her little heart was pounding like mad ... but she's loving it already! it's strange listening her tell me what she ate for lunch and things about the teachers & kids at school. she is growing.
you would never even know harp was without someone that has been a constant from day one in his life! actually, i think he's really enjoying being the little man in charge. i'm already realizing that jae must have been picking up after her little brother from day one, because the boy can tear thru the house in no time at all, destroying everything on the way. while on a phone call the other day, he managed to turn on the sprayer at the sink on and soak everything nearby, including himself. then i witness him throwing the ball into the door as hard as he can (grunting, even) and looks at me, smiling and saying "dat awesome mama?!" ... !!! after he spit his chocolate milk inside the mayonnaise jar, i realized that his nap time was coming even sooner than i anticipated it would with our earlier wake-up calls ...
another thing : as he parked his truck (the couch) the other day and we hopped out, he announced "dis my house!" i said "wow, it's really nice. where do you work?" his reply "CVS." so he not only broke his leg there, he is also employed there! i said "oh, really? what do you do at cvs?" and duh, his answer : "i work der!" although yesterday, that had changed, he now works 'at the shop' with bubby, working on their BIG TRUCK. he says "see mom, got ma workin' boots on!"
so this post of jae's first day turns into me doting on her little brother ... oh well ... !! :)
below are jae's first days of school ... here is her 3 year old preschool pic ...
4 year preschool (yes, she somehow wore the same shirt the first day both years!!)
and first day of kindergarten!!! the changes amaze me.
